From birthday celebrations to a base for walking adventures, Elder Grove holds happy memories for many people. We are lucky to welcome back many lovely guests from all over the world. Hear what they like best about our Ambleside B and B:
Thanks for a great stay. This was the first time we have used a B and B rather than a hotel…and have been converted.
The attention to detail is fabulous: beautiful smelling toiletries, lovely coffee in the rooms, little bottles of fresh milk, honesty box for drinks and flapjack with home made marmalade at breakfast. These are all fabulous little touches.
On top of that, we also had free parking and a complimentary trip to the spa. What more can you ask?
“We only spent one night at this charming B&B but it was a very good experience, we had room 8 on the top floor with a super king-sized bed. Our room was spacious and clean it had absolutely everything you need whilst away from home even an electric heater and a fan tucked away in the wardrobe.”
Just a note to say thank you for our stay 6th-8th December. This is our second time at the Elder Grove and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay thank you. We particularly liked the little details such as the hot water bottle, the umbrellas (needed in December or any month in the Lake District!), how you can use the hotel for a swim and the fabulous breakfast. Both the staff, Matt and Lucy are all lovely and we’ll surely be back.
“Had an enjoyable stay at Elder Grove this weekend. We would recommend it to anyone looking for accommodation in Ambleside. Close to lots of very good places to eat. Our fourth visit. We plan to return later in the year. Thank you Matthew and Lucy”
“Warm, comfortable rooms that are spotlessly clean. Superb breakfasts beautifully cooked and presented. Nothing was too much trouble and Matthew was a charming friendly host with a great sense of humour! Definitely be returning and thoroughly recommend this excellent B&B.”
We really enjoyed our stay with you over the weekend. Often it’s those seemingly little touches that add to the quality of a stay such as the organic herbal teas, the gorgeous Pure Lakes products, the fluffy white towels, using local produce for a wonderful breakfast and the welcome on arrival to name but a few.
We hope to return one day and will recommend you.
Ps. The quirky little wooden mouse made us smile too!
“We had a lovely nights sleep at this great B and B. The service was great, warm and very welcoming. This was our first time away from a big chain hotel and it was worth every penny. I would happily stay here again. Thank you.”
“We had a lovely stay this weekend celebrating our nieces 21st. The owners made us very welcome and our stay was very pleasant The room was very clean and we had all the amenities you would want. To finish off we had a very nice breakfast with a big selection to choose from. Would definitely come again.”
“We booked a weekend break staying at the Elder Grove. The Elder Grove has its own car park, which we found an added bonus, and is situated just a 2 minute walk from the centre of Ambleside…All in all, we had a brilliant weekend which was very much helped by staying at the Elder Grove. Thank you Matthew, Lucy and your team. “
“We stayed at the Eldergrove bed and breakfast for two nights and we can say that we will definitely be returning. It is run by Lucy and Matthew who are lovely people. The bedrooms are very clean and bed was so comfy. The breakfast is cooked to order and they use all local sourced products ,and we can say it’s absolutely delicious. We would definitely recommend this bed and breakfast.”
“Warm welcome, very hospitable host helped carry luggage up the stairs. Loved the honesty box at the bar for drinks etc, and extra milk available. Very comfy beds, Lovely breakfasts in relaxed atmosphere. Loved the home made marmalade at breakfast so much we brought some home. Great parking & easily access to Ambleside town or walks from the doorstep. Stayed many time in Ambleside, this was one of the best at a reasonable price.”
“From the very friendly warm welcome from Matthew explaining all the facilities at our disposal when we first arrived to the very tasty Cumbrian breakfast we enjoyed before we departed which set us up for a days walking – we couldn’t fault a thing. A very comfortable B&B with a very commendable green policy and a wonderful ethos to source all items locally.
Perfectly located, this B&B is a little gem and we will definitely return as our brief stay wasn’t long enough.”
