How to find Elder Grove
Ambleside is easily reached from the M6.
FROM THE SOUTH, leave the M6 at Junction 36, follow the A590-591 towards Kendal, Windermere and onto Ambleside, Enter the towns one way system opposite the BP filling station, keeping in the right hand lane travel in a complete circle back onto Lake Road, keeping in the right hand lane Elder Grove is on the last house on the right just before the junction and the filling station (on the left).
FROM THE NORTH , leave the M6 at junction 40 (Penrith)follow the signs for Keswick (A66) and Ambleside (A591). To avoid traveling through Keswick turn off at Threlkeld, traveling through St John’s in the Vale, joining the A591 at Thirlspot. Proceed through the town center of Ambleside towards Windermere. Elder Grove is on your right hand side, just before the turning to Coniston and Langdale and before the filling station on the left.
Traveling by Train and Bus
The nearest railway station is in Windermere, and the main line station is Oxenholme. From the railway station there is a bus service running into Ambleside and from Easter to October buses are every 20 minutes, there are also taxi’s available and a cycle hire shop. The main bus stop in Ambleside is in Kings Street, less than 5 minutes walk from Elder Grove. There are bicycle hire shops in Ambleside; the nearest car hire is in Kendal.

Please Note : Following the December Floods the A591 north of Grasmere to Keswick is closed. The council hope to have access again by Easter. If you arrive from the North you will need to travel into Ambleside on the A592 over Kirkstone Pass into Ambleside or Down to Jct 37 and into Kendal coming into Ambleside from the South. How to find Stones Throw
From the south leave the M6 at j36, follow the A590/1 towards Kendal and Windermere and on to Ambleside. Enter the towns one way system opposite the filling station; keep in the right hand lane and travel through town in a loop, at the junction turn right then immediately left onto Old Lake Road and Stones Throw is 200 meters on your right.From the North leave the M6 at J 40, from the roundabout take the 4th exit towards Keswick at the next roundabout choose from a scenic drive along Ullswater and descending to Ambleside via Kirkstone Pass or towards Keswick on the A66. From the A66 turn off at Threlkeld along the B5322 and meet the A591 continuing to Ambleside.
Both routes arrive at the mini roundabout follow the one way system through the town, as the road divides into two lanes keep left and immediately left on to Old Lake Road Stones Throw is 200 meters on the right.
Stones Throws post code is LA22 0AE and has one dedicated parking place at the back of the building. Elder Grove is on Lake Road LA22 0DB -approx 200 meters past the Old Lake Road turning and on the right, opposite the BP filling station.
