Locally Sourced Produce

Our Cumberland sausage is from the local butcher Garside’s, in North Road and is made in the traditional way, arriving to us in a coil.

We also have their dry cured bacon and black pudding made by hand giving a chunky local flavoured pudding.

We use free range eggs from Bannerigg Farm, Windermere.

We have milk delivered daily from Town End Dairy (Windermere) they buy at a fair price from North Lakes Foods who source all products from Cumbrian farmers.

The bread used for toast is from Peggy’s Bakery on Compston Road, and is baked daily on the premise behind the shop using Carr’s flour.

Unfortunately, the Lake District is not a big producer of oranges so when it comes to making marmalade Lucy prefers to use Seville Oranges which arrive by the box in January.

The fruit for the homemade jams varies in origin depending on the time of the year.

We use Tea & Coffee from John Watt’s in Carlisle – who have been roasting coffee and blending teas for over 150 years.  Having grown up in Carlisle, Lucy has fond memories of the steam and uplifting bitter coffee smell from the roastery, which engulfed the street on cold winter mornings!

To keep our food waste to a minimum we prepare and cook all our breakfasts to order.
