I've just enjoyed another lovely stay with Paul and Vicky. To travel 4,500 miles to visit the Lake District, the place I stay must be superior in every way to make it worthwhile. The warm welcome, the friendly chats, Paul's breakfasts, the clean rooms with the special touches make me feel as though I have found a home away from home for a lifetime! There are not enough adjectives for me to express my joy in finding such a place.

Stacey and I just wanted to thank you for all your hard work during our recent stay. Jessica had recommended Eldergrove to us and we decided to book for the New Year. We are so glad we did! All the party really enjoyed their stay and it made our New Year very special. We hope to see you again in the not too distant future. Best Wishes Chris and Stacey

We have stayed at Elder Grove at least once a year for the past 10 years, unbelievable but it keeps getting better. Paul & Vicky are wonderful hosts, who have an immaculate home and serve the best breakfast in the Lakes. Thanks again.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Having stayed in many impersonal hotels around the world it was refreshing to have a warm personal welcome. Apart from the magnificent breakfast we enjoyed some special touches such as local walk guides, and a bottle of chilled wine from the hotel bar. Our final departing gift was a loaf of home cooked bread. We will be back.

I enjoyed a short but memorable one night stay. Nice quiet single room with lovely view and modern en suite bathroom, the breakfast was exceptional and the quality of food unsurpassed. Service was impeccable and even though I was alone, I felt at home. Nice bar, residents lounge and private car park. Elder Grove was also one of the few establishments that had presence of mind to accomodate a single night on the weekend at this time of year. Many thanks!

We stayed for 2 nights from 13/08/2010 to attend a nearby wedding. It would have been impossible for Paul & Vicky to do more for us. The facilities and accommodation were excellent, the bar reasonably priced and the breakfast (try the home made marmalade) far surpasses many 4* hotels we have used in the past. It was our first visit but it will not be the last. Paul & Vicky make it feel like home!

Have just returned from a two-night stay at Elder Grove. My single room was lovely, especially the bathroom and there were lots of thoughtful 'extras' such as a fan for very hot weather and lovely bottles of soap and body lotion. Vicky and Paul were the ideal hosts, friendly and helpful but never intrusive. Must mention the breakfasts - excellent and huge! Home-made bread and jams very yummy. An excellent base for a visit to the Lakes.

We have been visiting Elder Grove two or three times a year since 1988 and are looking forward to our next stay. Always a warm welcome and great hospitality at this comfortable hotel. Paul’s excellent Cumbrian breakfast sets us up for a day on the fells. Highly recommended.

First visited the Elder Grove in 1975, it was fantastic and still is. It's become our second home. We had our honeymoon there 25 years ago and have been back every year since. You always know that the service and welcome will be second to none. Love the place! Margaret and Ken
